These young men and women have become household names in the South-South region of Nigeria. Obviously, these youths are undergraduates with a difference. This is why the Business Manager of Silverbird Communications Limited, Benin, Mr. Peter Inyangbe, described Team Rhythm as ‘wonderful group’. He said it was born out of effort to catch them young.
“The ‘catch them young’ idea is one we go by and thus the birth of Team Rhythm. These undergraduates have made me proud.
At times I wonder if they are undergraduates because I’m impressed by their performance. They’ll indeed become great broadcasters in the future, especially the ones who wish to continue with the profession,” Inyangbe said. He, however, urged the group to remain focused and not to derail from their good work.
The shows anchored by Team Rhythm include; Dance party; Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays 7:30pm – 10pm. Soul’d out: Saturdays 6:00am -11:00am. Holla ‘t the rhythm: Saturdays 2:00pm – 4:00pm. Make it or break it: Saturdays at 4:00pm-6:00pm. Sportacular: Saturdays and Sundays 6:30pm -8:00pm. Gospel rhythm: Sundays 6:00am -11:00pm. Peter Amayo, who anchors the ‘Dance Party’ and ‘Make it or break it’ show, coordinates the Team Rhythm.
He is a 200 level History student, University of Benin, born into the family of Mr. and Mrs. Amayo some 20 years ago. He said activities of Team Rhythm do not affect their studies in school, pointing out that many of their members also excel academically.
“The interesting thing is that, Team Rhythm shows are done during the weekend except for ‘Dance Party’ which holds Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays.” “We are the future of radio and T.V presenting. We are Team Rhythm bringing you crazitivity,” he said with confidence. “I like to sing, tell jokes, eat, tease people and play video game. My goal everyday is to make at least one person happy,” he stated.
Peter Amayo is assisted by Stephanie Ohumu. She co-anchors the dance party with him. The teenager is currently studying Human Kinetics at the University of Benin.
The other members of team rhythm include: Omokide Bilikis, Ken Ejemai, Donald Isedeh, Shedrack Igho, Isimekhai Abdul-Hafeez Danesi, Nkiru Mordi, Tuoyo, Asuelimen Godwin and Osoata Obehi.
