Jonathan Orders Payment Of N5m Compensation To Each Family Of 10 Slain Corps Members
President Goodluck Jonathan has ordered the payment of N5 million to the families of each of the slain 10 members of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC.
They were killed during the post-election violence in northern Nigeria. Nine of them were killed in Bauchi alone and the victims were from Southern Nigeria.
Youth Corps members served as ad hoc staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, during the just concluded polls. Prior to the April general elections, they assisted INEC to carry out the voter registration exercise across Nigeria.
