Action Congress of Nigeria ACN has said for the party to fulfill its campaign promises and also, provide quality governance to the people, all elected party members must strictly abide by the tenet and ideals of the party.
The party Monday told the newly elected members of the Houses of Assembly during the induction training programme held for them in Lagos that the party remains supreme and urged that undiluted loyalty is expected of them.
In his keynote address, Chairman of the party, Chief Bisi Akande,  maintained that without any attempt to gag or deprive the members of their right, it will be of immense advantage for the party’s position in the Nigerian politics if they build their legislative policies on the party principles since the party is progress and development-oriented.
“ACN as a party of ideas which is built on principle, must be seen as a channel of control. No one, according to Chief Obafemi Awolowo, one of the foremost Nigerian political thinkers, however highly placed, is above the party, or the discipline and sanctions which the party might care to impose.
“Once the party takes decision, it is expected that all loyal party members must abide by it because nobody is elected independently. So, once you are elected on the platform of this party, you are expected to be loyal and live by its principles,” he said.
“In your own right as a member of the House of Assembly, you have now become a  leader-very important part of the party structure.”
Also speaking, the former Lagos State Governor and the party stalwart, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, advised that the party cannot afford to fail Nigeria. He enjoined all the would-be political office holders elected on the party platform to grid their loins for the enormous job ahead and cautioned them against personal gains.
“We cannot afford to fail the people. We must rise up to the challenges in the party and the country in general. Roll up your sleeves for the job ahead for the overall betterment of lives of the people.
“We must prioritise the welfares of our people through affordable and qualitative education and health, infrastructural development and also strengthen our democratic principles, he emphasised.
He charged them saying If they are there to seek personal gains, “you will be short lived...take that home.”
As he urged them not to personalise the interest in their various Houses, he said: “always consult your constituencies of your objectives and support your (ACN) National Assembly legislators.”
