UI STUDENTS TO VISIT CHICAGO UNIVERSITY FOR AN EXCHANGE PROGRAMME
Following a fruitful collaboration
between the University of Ibadan (UI) and Chicago State University,
Maryland in United States of America (USA), students from Ibadan will
soon be visiting Chicago for an exchange programme designed to broaden
the students’ academic horizon.
An alumnus, Prof. Sola Olaopade of the Chicago State University who dropped this hint during a courtesy call on the UI Vice- Chancellor, Prof. Isaac Folorunso Adewole said the partnership between the two institutions has reached a stage where UI students could come over to the US for
an exchange programme.
Prof. Olaopade, accompanied by two of his colleagues from Chicago, including
Profs. Scolt Stern and Auya Hussain recalled that the Memorandum of
Understanding between the two universities was signed in 2009, which
he said has been mutually beneficial to the two parties.
He stressed that medical students in particular would find the Global Medical
Initiative Project which is being pioneered in the US very useful as they will draw from the modern technological method of health care delivery.
In his response, the VC, Prof. Adewole who commended the visiting foreign
scholars for considering UI as a worthy partner, remarked that the UI was not ready to rely on its oars, saying “we are ready to pay for the best because we believe the best for us, is the best”
Prof. Adewole while enumerating numerous achievements by UI noted that as part of the continuous efforts towards greatness, the Management has established Directorate of Quality Assurance with a view to ensure quality
service delivery at all the time.
He insisted that the university, being the first and the best in Nigeria
would not relent in its effort to equip its products with fantastic
training that would guarantee success in any part of the globe.
