ASUU Strike: UI Students Vacate Campus
Students of the University of Ibadan in their thousands on Tuesday
packed their luggage from the campus and headed home in compliance with
the university management’s directive which ordered students to proceed
on a two weeks’ mid-semester break.
The university’s directive was......
apparently in view of the ongoing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
The university authorities had in a bulletin signed by the Registrar, Olukoya Olujinmi, directed students to vacate their halls of residence by noon and proceed on two weeks’ mid-semester break in view of the prevailing circumstance in the education sector.
As early as 9am on Tuesday, some parents were seen around the Mellanby Hall packing the luggage of their children.
They complained bitterly about the academic disorder in the country and prayed for early resolution of the impasse.
