Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU) Threatens To Begin Strike Next Week

The General Secretary, Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions, Mr. Peters Adeyemi, has said NASU may be force to embark on strike from next week if the Federal Government does not pay the members their salaries for August and September.
In an interview with journalists in Ilorin during NASU’s National Executive Council meeting in Ilorin on Tuesday, Adeyemi said NASU had displayed maturity in handling its grievances, adding that the
government was “pushing the members to the wall.”
He stated that even though the union had some disagreements with the FG, it opted not to join the strike of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, which commenced in July.
Adeyemi said the government had not deemed it proper to explain why the members August and September salaries had yet to be paid.
He said, “NASU will start its own strike next week because we have been working
and government has refused to pay our salaries. For us, it does not
make sense for us to continue to keep the system running when we are
not paid our salaries. The reason for this is not known to us.”
