ASUU Strike Bags 134Days As Parents/Teachers Urge FG And ASUU To Tell Nigerians The Hidden Truth

As the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU strike enters its 134 days today, the National Parents Teachers Association of Nigeria, NAPTAN, has urged the federal government and ASUU to publish hidden truths that are unknown to Nigerians.
National president of the association, Alh Haruna Danjuma, aka Mutuwan Dole, made the call yesterday in Abuja, when speaking to journalists concerning the effect of the protracted strike which he described as very disastrous.
He said “We are appealing to both sides. ASUU should publish the agreement and their stand in papers and thesame goes for the federal government. Nigerians are at a fix concerning the whole issue as ASUU seems to be saying one thing and the federal government another.”
“The two bodies should be able to come out and tell Nigerians the hidden truths of what was agreed on in the 2009 agreement. The parents are suffering. The students are suffering as well.”
While calling on the federal government to be serious with the future of Nigerian students, he pledged that parents under the umbrella of the association will prevent their children and wards from protesting on the streets and will ensure that they are law-abiding.
“We will stop our children from coming out to protest on the streets. They have listened to us and have respected us enough. It is very sad.”
It will be recalled that dialogue between the two bodies has always ended in a logjam, as the crux of the matter, which seems to be the 2009 agreement remains unresolved with accusations and counter-accusations taking toll at the expense of the students. =====Credit
