Kwara Poly Students Protest Over Shoot Of A Colleague

Most activities was on monday shot at the kwara state capital, Ilorin, as the student of kwara Polytechnic protest over the shoot of a student.

 According to Eye witnesses, the incident happened around 2 p.m. when a policeman attached to a bullion van shot at the student who was in a cab heading  to the main campus of the institution.
The student, who was said to be Ahmed Dayo,have sustained serious injuries as a result of the gun shot.
The eye-witness said that the wounded student, an ND 1 Accounting student of the polytechnic,  was going to the campus to collect his  identity card.
NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIAN STUDENTS (NAN) gathered that the taxi driver had stopped to pick  another passenger when the policeman in the bullion van  ordered him to move off the road.

The eyewitness  said  the policeman attempted to shoot the tyre of the taxi, but instead shot the student inside the taxi cab.
The policemen and the driver of the bullion van were  said to  have  fled   to a nearby bank to seek refuge, further infuriating the students around the scene of the incident.
NAN also gathered that the students set up a bonfire on the busy road disrupting human and vehicular movement.
All shops, offices and banks on the long stretch of Murtala Mohammed road were hurriedly shut  while traders in the area fled.
The student was rushed to  the nearby Ayodele Medical Centre where he  was attended to.
NAN gathered that the student suffered a broken bone on his left leg while the tibia was broken, affecting  the flat surface of his right foot.
He was referred to the University of  Ilorin Teaching Hospital for full medical attention after being given first aid treatment.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state command, Mr Femi Famubode,  confirmed the incident.
He added that a detachment of policemen  had  been drafted to the scene to restore normalcy.
